About TuffyHacks

acmCSUF, Theta Tau (ΦΕ), and other STEM clubs are uniting to host California State University Fullerton's first 24-hour hackathon for beginners and first-time hackers. This year, our hackathon will be held as a hybrid event on February 25th-26th. We will have an in person component for CSUF students and a online component for other students.

Come learn new topics with workshops ranging from Intro to Design to Create Your Own Discord Bot. You can even meet representatives from our generous sponsors during our networking event. Your project also has the chance to win cool prizes! We hope that you are as excited about this event as we are!

What is a hackathon?
A hackathon is a weekend-long event where students come together to learn the latest technologies and build innovative technologies.
Do I need to have a group?
Not at all! You can be a lone wolf, come with a team (no more than four people), or join some teams at TuffyHacks. We’ll also have team building activities to help you find the right teammates!
Who can participate?
Any current college student is more than welcome to attend! Not a student? No problem! You can attend as a mentor and help out our students! Mentor applications will be opening soon.
What if I have no prior experience?
We don't expect hackers to have any prior experience. We will be providing starter packs and beginner-friendly workshops to help new hackers get their projects off the ground.
When and where is TuffyHacks?
TuffyHacks is taking place from February 25th to February 26th. The hackathon will be hybrid offering the in person component only to CSUF students and the virtual component to everyone else.
How much does it cost to attend?
It is free!
What can I build?
Anything your heart desires! Web, mobile, gaming, VR... You name it, we'll support it. We have five challenges that will have extra resources, sponsored challenges, and other events to inspire you.
What do I need?
Make sure to have ready your laptop, chargers, and anything else you need for 24 hours of hacking. If you attending in-person, make sure to have your student ID ready too, and EventPass accessible on your mobile device!
Are there any travel reimbursements?
Unfortunately, we won't be able to provide travel reimbursements this year.
When should I show up/leave?
Participants should plan to start hacking in the Friday (2/25) afternoon and finish by Saturday (2/26) evening. A detailed schedule will be released closer to the day of the event!
What COVID regulations will TuffyHacks have in place?
At the event, we will require face coverings for all individuals. We will also be using EventPass via TitanLink to track attendance and monitor contract tracing. We also plan to follow the CSUF President's Directive in regards to COVID-19 measures.

Please email if you have any other questions!
